I use these every day at work. The other tech in the shop has rigid Gearwrenches, so I decided to buy the flex heads and we could use each other's as needed. Be sure to check the prices on the 9901 and 9903 kits... as I write this, those 2 kits together are about $20 cheaper than this one, for all the same wrenches, plus you get the 12-spot holder that the smaller kit includes, for whatever that's worth to you.
The flex head comes in handy far more often than it gets in the way. Really, the only times it's a bother is either putting tons of torque on a fastener, or sometimes trying to start a small one in a tight space, when the head will let it pivot some. If you're busting off really tight bolts, you should break them loose with a regular wrench, anyway, otherwise the ratchet mechanism tends to bind up... or possibly break. YMMV, but if you have a tool truck account with a friendly tool guy, Snap-On or Matco are willing to warranty these wrenches. Not as fast as...
