These DEWALT DW989K-2 18 Volt XRP 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver/Hammerdrill Kit way out perform some other brand including major brands and department store brands. The major selling points for me personally are hight quality with low price.

Delivering solid performance and serious convenience, DeWalt's heavy-duty, 18-volt, 1/2-inch drill/driver/hammer drill will do up to 2,000 rpm and 34,000 beats per minute, and can produce 450 inch-pounds of maximum sustained torque. The carbide-tipped chuck jaws have excellent bit grip. There's also an automatic spindle lock, as well as an antislip comfort grip. Essentially the same tool as DeWalt's T-grip DW988, this hammer drill comes with a pistol grip, which some users prefer because it makes it easy to put your full force directly behind the bit. A pistol grip, however, doesn't distribute weight as evenly as a T-grip, so it's not as comfortable to hold, especially over long periods of time. --Jonathon Tudor

Review : A Great Drill!
Good drill indicative of DeWALTS better tools. Very nice combo kit! The pistol grip has the added advantage of being able to apply more force through the bit into the work. This drill has plenty of torque for just about any job and the battery run/charge time ranges from good to great. It's probably easier just to list a couple of improvement areas (nonimpacting overall):
1) The speed range selecting switch needs to be persuaded on occasion to change position.
2) The torque clutch works better on the second and third speed range.
3) The chuck's run out could be a little better, although there is no impact from this when drilling.

All and all this is a great drill package! I'm very happy with my purchase!!


I think, explains the few complaints on DEWALT DW989K-2 18 Volt XRP 1/2-Inch Drill/Driver/Hammerdrill Kit not fitting or leaking.
