I started taking up a large ceramic tile floor with hand tools. I was able to remove about 15-20 square feet of tile in an hour. I bought one of these reconditioned tools on eBay. I was able to take up 20 square feet of tile in about 10 minutes. Would be even faster, but it's kind of hard for me to get around on the floor. Be sure to wear heavy duty gloves, goggles, and hearing protection. If you've got some demolition type of work to do, or drilling in concrete, you better look into one of these. It will make your life much simpler. Plus, you'll have a lot more time to do other things.
